So far I haven't seen 12 Years a Slave, Nebraska, Philomena or The Wolf of Wall Street. Here's my thoughts on the ones I've seen: American Hustle - My favorite movie of 2013. 4/4 stars. Excellent editing and just plain great storytelling. The characters were consistently interesting even the smaller roles like Louis CK and Jeremy Renner's. Captain Phillips - 4/4 stars. Edge of your seater. Hanks and Abdi were both fantastic and I felt like a fly on the wall on this ship. It's breathtaking filmmaking and the last 10 minutes featured some stunning silent acting by Hanks. Dallas Buyers Club - 4/4 stars. Great character piece that took what could have been a movie of the week into a gritty well-written masterpiece. McConaughey and Leto were very raw and the script was surprisingly witty. Gravity - 2/4 stars. While technically very well made, I found it to be really simple and boring. Bullock was okay but not great and there really was no story. A technical marvel but that's about it

Her - 3.5/4 stars. What could have been a one-joke comedy turns into a cerebral examination of relationships and technology. Phoenix gives a warm, awkward performance and the production design is subtle and beautiful.

Haha there's a reason they don't let people like this choose the Oscars because you'd pick Jennifer Lawrence every miserable time. The fact that you guys voted her over Lupita f*cking Nyong'o is a disgrace. Gravity deserved all the Oscars it got, because they were all technical awards. It was a technical marvel, but that's about it. Yes, Leo deserves an Oscar at some point -- but he didn't come close to touching what Matthew McConaughey did in Dallas Buyers Club. The Wolf of Wall Street was a pretty average movie, overall, and its screenplay really isn't anywhere near the level of the others in its category. Better than Captain Phillips, sure, but that's about it. Honestly, this is one of the few years where the Academy got just about everything right. Their only major screw up was giving Frozen an Oscar over The Wind Rises, which was laughably wrong.
Gravity Suck!

Gravity is just 120 of sandra bullock screaming
Vote for the Nominee that deserved to win. Maybe the academy got it wrong. Let's get it right.
